Leblow Uses Home Course Advantage to Secure Double Victory

Situated at the base of the Bookcliffs, racers are met with one large loop presenting a variety of course pathways - ranging from long dirt-road stretches to short, steep arroyo crossings and winding single track trail. This is a course in which familiarity can be useful.

Home team senior, Jared Leblow, certainly has a strong history on the course. With defending champion and previous runner-up credentials it would be easy to concede the race to him.

Jed Wilson of Grand Junction, however, was not about give in that easily. Although Leblow ended up leading wire to wire, the dogged Wilson never allowed Leblow a comfortable margin.

Clipping Wilson's heels, Central sophomore Tyman Smart held off a final surge from Grand Junction's Nicholas Duncan and Aaron King as well as Fruita's Dalton Haraway. Coming in 7th, Central's Talon Berta evened the team score with Grand Junction at eleven points each. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the Warriors' next three runners would make their way through the finish before another black singlet. Central claimed the team title 38 to 49 over Grand Junction.
