Needing to Stay Sharp Between State and Nike Cross Regionals? Try the Tomahawk Two Mile!

The Hoka One One Tomahawk 2 Mile XC Challenge began just a few years ago as a small team time trial. It has now become a mainstay for many individuals and teams running post season cross country events.

The timing of this event is ideal as it allows a couple weeks for runners to recover from the demands of the Colorado State Cross Country Meet while also allowing runners to regain their racing legs before Nike Regionals. It is also a great way for runners to see how their cross country training transfers over to running a two mile race on the track.

During the brief history of this event, there have been some very good individuals and teams lining up. Names like Hammer, Jones, (Paxton) Smith, Martinez, Thollot, Goldy, Brevig, Meadows, Roth, Norman, Mayhew, Cooney, Leidig, Deitsch, Offerman, Easton, Steele, Lambros and Capek have waged storied battles at the Tomahawk 2 Mile. That list will only grow this year.

Previous state champion teams in Mountain View, Thompson Valley, Mountain Vista, and Palmer Ridge have capitalized on this event to springboard them toward a strong showing at Nike Cross Regionals! Last year, TCA, Arapahoe and Rampart joined traditional teams from Widefield, Frontier Academy, and Cheyenne Mountain.

This year's event promises to be even more of a spectacle as Hoka One One contacted the event organizer to make the Tomahawk 2 Mile one of their flagship events in the United States. As such, Hoka, along with Victory Racing Company and Runners Roost, will be adding national exposure, a finish line truss, t-shirts for all participants, awards, DJ, professional FAT timing and more.
