Tell us why Texas Tech was the right choice for you.

I absolutely love the community around the campus.  The coaching staff is really friendly and approachable and the team is super welcoming.  In the short 48 hours I was in Lubbock, Texas on an official visit, I connected with the team and felt like I would fit in right away.  While I was on campus, I got that feeling in my gut where I just knew Texas Tech was where I was supposed to be.

What do you plan to study at Texas Tech?

While I'm at Texas Tech, I plan on studying sociology.  One of the sociology professors at TTU talked to me about research studies conducted there, which fascinates me. In the future, I would like a career where I am able to work with and help others.

You've run a lot of 800s, 1600s, 3200s, and cross country 5Ks in high school. Certainly enough to know how you feel about each. Of those four races, which is your favorite, and why?

My favorite event is the 1600. It uses a combination of stamina and speed. I've had success in the 1600 in the past and I'm excited to see what I can do this upcoming season.

How about a favorite Colorado cross country course?

I thoroughly enjoyed the old state course at Norris Penrose Event Center. I was able to find the strength to pass competitors on Big Willis. Running through the creek and barns made it challenging and fun. I loved the thrill of finishing in the stadium with everyone cheering. It was a great feeling!

The highlights of your high school career would make for a long list. Do you have one favorite highlight from all of those?

My track highlight would be winning the 4x800 relay at state my freshman year. I was the second leg and was able to get our team out in front.  The joy of seeing Riley Cooney, our anchor leg,  cross the finish line ahead of everyone else was a feeling I'll never forget! This race qualified our relay team for New Balance Outdoor Nationals. The trip to North Carolina with my coaches and relay team was a blast.  It was incredible competing with some of the best track athletes from around the nation.

My favorite cross country moment was my sophomore year when I led our team to a first place victory at the 2014 4A State Cross Country Championships.  We truly ran for each other. The outcome was amazing.
