In round two of the Fort Collins vs. Thompson Valley matchup, Fort Collins prevailed in a signficant way. With Rachel Viger back in the Lambkins' lineup, Fort Collins won by a 37-75 margin. Fort Collins put all five of their scorers into the top 12 places and was never seriously threatened on this day by the Eagles. This would be the final head-to-head matchup for the northern Colorado rivals during the CHSAA season. From this point forward, Fort Collins goes to strictly 5A meets and Thompson Valley to strictly 4A meets.
Laura Tremblay did bring home the individual title for Thompson Valley with a time of 18:36. Miranda Benzel of Fort Collins would finish second in 18:43.
Dakota Ridge, another major player among the state's top girls programs, held out Paige Lillo, Natosha Rogers, and Kaitie Vanatta. While the remainder of the lineup for Dakota Ridge put in a solid showing, the short-handed lineup finished sixth in the team scoring.
Dominique Gerard led a solid showing from ThunderRidge. The blue-and-green contingent from Douglas County finished fourth in the team scoring and Gerard finished fifth among individuals in 19:08.
The boys side brought another team title to Fort Collins, though by a much slimmer margin that the girls enjoyed. Fort Collins slipped by Coronado by the slimmest of margins, 89-90, while a short-handed Loveland team finished third with 126 in the Division 1 boys race.
Dominick Robinson of Wyoming's Campbell County won the individual title in a time of 15:57. The honor of top Colorado finisher went to George Washington' s Matt Bell in 16:06 (below, photo by Mark Weeks).
As was the case with their girls, Dakota Ridge held out its top runners in the boys race.
Division 2 team titles went to Alamosa, led by a 4-5-6 finish by Jenny and Nikki DeSouchet and Lindsey Sowards, and a resurgent boys team from Roosevelt. Aaron Alarcon doubled the fun for Roosevelt by winning the individual title in 16:44. Niwot continued its Jekyll-and-Hyde season by finishing third in the boys' standings.
Fossil Ridge's Rikka LaBere won the individual title for the Division 2 girls in 19:23.
