Where Are We Versus Recent State-Qualifying Standards? 2A Boys

Calhan's Ben Kelly had a couple of jumps at Monday's Elbert make-up meet that put him squarely into the 2A mid season top 18s.

2A Boys is fundamentally similar to every other classification and gender. It takes a while for each new season to approximate the minimum state-qualifying standards from previous seasons.

Although this year's 400 standard has already eclipsed last year's minimum to advance to State, that's not as straight-forward as it seems. There were some scratches and nondeclared athletes after #18 that led to a 55.11 getting a lane at last year's state meet.

Otherwise, the minimum qualifying marks from this year are closing in on those from the last two years but aren't quite there yet. That could start changing perhaps as early as this weekend in some events, however.

In any case, here's what it took to advance to State last year versus the current #18s for 2A Boys.
