2017 Glenwood Demon: Rewriting Throwing Records

Speedsters At The Top

The somewhat windy conditions down the homestretch did not make for an abundance of personal bests, but there was still speed on display. Aspen's Sunday Abarca is one of those athletes that people make sure not to miss at a meet. On Saturday he won the sprint triple, just missing meet records in all three events despite the wind.  After the weekend, Abarca still leads all of Colorado with a 21.67 in the 200.

The veteran on the girls side of speed was Eagle Valley's hurdler Charise Crabb. The senior ran a lifetime best of 15.16 in the prelims of the 100 and would win the finals in 15.29. She missed a lifetime best by .03 of a second in the 300 hurdles on her way to the win.

The Glenwood boys showed off their team speed with wins in the 4x1, 4x2 and 4x4 relays. The foursome of Miguel Peralta, Luke Gair Ismael Villegas and Gavin Olson set a meet record in 1:30.86. The 4x4 team of Villegas, Kuba Bartnik, Alex Cutright and Larry Flores just missed a meet record with their time of 3:30. The Demons also earned enough points across the board to win the team title.

On the girls' side of the relays Montrose won all but the 4x1 but Paonia's all-around strength was just enough to hold on for the team victory by two points.
