2017 Highlands Ranch Memorial: She's Baaaaack!

Lauren Gale Returns To The Track

You remember Lauren Gale. Of course you remember her. How could you forget?

And the world of 4A Girls sprinting just got turned on its head with Gale's return to action on Saturday.

Gale only competed in two events--the 100 and 400--and looked a little like someone who hadn't raced in nine months. At least as long as that someone is still pretty fast.

You can probably count on a couple of things here. One, the 200 will be on her agenda somewhere this week. Two, she'll be faster at State than she was on Saturday.

Gale wasted no time getting back into the winning column in the 100, posting a wind legal 12.38 for that win. Gale's start was merely ordinary by her standards, but she showed strong glimpses of her old speed from the midway point of the race through the finish.

Gale, uncharacteristically, didn't put the last competitor away in the 400 until the last 50 meters. Mariah Gordon came off the turn in the lead, but Gale had enough left to push her way by Gordon in the final 50 meters and stopping the clock at 56.88.

Both of those times will easily get her into the state meet. And, there figure to be a lot of eyes pointed her direction at State to see what she can do on a very short season back from injury.
