Ashlyn Alvey added some immediate scoring punch for the Rocky Ford girls in her first high school meet.

This morning, we did 5A freshman classes. This evening we do 2A. You can probably figure out what my goals are for tomorrow.

As with 5A, there are a lot of limitations here. The chief among those limitations is that we don't yet have a particularly expansive view of performances for freshmen around the state yet. I can only report on those freshmen who recorded official times this past weekend. On top of that, 2A is probably the classification with the greatest percentage of teams not yet in action as of last weekend.

So, at some point, we'll have to revisit all this when the number of freshmen in view is a bit more representative of the whole than it is now.

With 2A it's also worth noting that freshman impact is magnified beyond whatever it is in other classifications. When you only score three, a legitimate varsity freshman can easily be the difference between a state champion and an 8...
