New Balance Nationals Day 2: Hall Continues To Shine

Yesterday Anna Hall captured her second national high jump title, and she was just warming up. Day 2 of the New Balance Nationals Indoor brought much of the same from the Valor Christian junior, who was competing in the pentathlon today. 

Hall dominated the competition, claiming the event with 4,054 points - a new  junior class record. Her route to overall victory included a slew of second-place finishes. She finished second in the 800 to Sterling Lester in a new personal best of 2:17.98, second in the high jump in 5-8.5, second in the shot put with a toss of 36-3.50, second in the long jump with a mark of 18-10, and second in the 60mH in 8.82. 

Hall's 4,054 points trails Olympian Kendell William's senior class and national record of 4,068 points. Clearly, Hall could be rewriting the record books next year.

While Hall was busy claiming her second national title of the weekend, 11 more Colorado athletes went to work in preliminary and final heats. 

More Big Colorado Finishes

Devin Cadena and Sydnee Larkin qualified into Sunday's semifinals in the 60. Cadena ran 6.89 in the boys, while Larkin ran 7.70 in the girls race. Zion Gordon just missed qualifying, running 7.10. 
Gordon's unfortunate luck continued through into the 60 hurdles, where was the first one out of a qualifying time, running 8.14, while Cameron Harris also missed out, running 8.18.
Emily Sloan ran according to plan, as her quest for a national title and a national record remains alive and well. Sloan qualified for Sunday's semi with a 8.33 win in the first heat. Kylie Davis didn't fare as well, missing a qualifying run by finishing in 9.18.
Max Manson brought his A-Game to New York in the boys pole vault. Manson finished third just off his personal best in 16-9.25. Justin Sandberg endured a tough day, finishing 26th in 14-3.50. 
Arria Minor came out of the blocks on fire, leading all qualifiers in the 400 with a blazing 53.57. She'll move on to Sunday's final. Meanwhile, Kyairra Reigh showed that Colorado's dominance over the 400 has a very secure future. Reigh dominated the freshmen 400 with a 54.67 - a new PR. 
Larkin rallied on her day in the long jump, finishing 11th in 18-9.75, while Jequan Hogan capped off the day in the high jump with a mark of 6-10.75, good for a seventh place.
