Small School Boys
The small school boys had to pick their places with a little more difficulty than the small school girls.
Among the first to leave a mark was Salida's Camden Gillis. His 4:30.35 1600 leaves him with a lofty perch in the 3A rankings in that event. Cody Danley's 10:14 in the 3200 did a bunch to improve his standing among 2A boys.
Hoehne, something of a hurdles factory under Coach Mark Cappellucci, got a 3-4 finish in the 110s out of Jacob Yates and Trystan Moltrer. They came back later in the day for a 2-8 in the 300s. Moltrer's 15.81 in prelims stands as a new PR. Yates wasn't in PR territory, but his 39.97 was the first sub-40 mark of the season in the 2A ranks. Those two guys probably had a lot to do with Hoehne's 44.38 effort in the 4x100 as well.
Burlington picked their spot to go big with an 8:22.09 in the 4x800. That put them in second, and well ahead of a lot of 4A and 5A teams.
Calhan's Mikey Mikita continued a season-long run of success in the pole vault with a meet winner at 13-10.
