Colorado Track XC Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year

There was a number of great possibilities for this honor, but Laura Tremblay rose about the rest.

So, what did Laura Tremblay do that put her on top for this award, above the likes of Emily Blok, LaTraia Scott, Samantha Berggren, Eleanor Fulton, and a few others?

Simply this, she came up big all season long, but most especially so when her team needed her to come up big.

Here is a brief summary of the highlights of Laura Tremblay's season:

anchored the new all-classification state record (9:00.07) 4 X 800 relay team at state

anchored the same relay team (8:58.34) to a second-place finish at Nike Outdoor Nationals

ran on the 4A state meet record 4 X 400 relay (3:50.74)

sacrificed an opportunity to run the mile at Nike Outdoor Nationals to stay fresh for the 4 X 400 relay where Thompson Valley improved their time to 3:47.83, the best time recorded by any Colorado team this year. It may be the best mark of all-time by any high school 4 X 400 relay team from Colorado, but I have been unable to verify that yet. The time is better than the Colorado all-classification 4 X 400 record for competition within the CHSAA season.

set a new 4A state meet record in the 1600, winning the event in 4:54.59. This would also stand as the best 1600 time in Colorado this year in any classification.

finished second at state in the 4A 800 meters with a time of 2:13.66

could have run at state in the 3200--and would have easily been a contender for the title--but opted instead to run the 800, 1600, 4 X 800, 4 X 400 combination

The Thompson Valley senior has graduated and should be seen wearing the colors of the University of Colorado this fall.
