Marlena Preigh ran 2:07 to win the championship 800.
Hold your hats, because: Marlena Preigh
But let's backtrack one moment...
Heading into the 2018 season, Preigh had a modest 800 PR of 2:14. The junior opened her season with a 2:16, then quickly dropped it down to 2:10 weeks before the state meet. Then, as we all know, she won state in 2:09.
But she wasn't done, clearly, because she won the girls championships 800 in 2:07.56. The win dominated the field by over a second, and it's currently the second fastest time in the nation. Here's a frightening fact: Preigh hasn't lost an 800 this season... This begs the question: how much faster can she go?
Abby Scott was in the race as well, running a massive PR of 2:12 to finish fifth.
In the girl's mile Madeleine Burns had a great showing as well, running a massive PR of 4:56. The sophomore is likely to make some waves next year.
