Week Three Coaches Poll: Girls

The calm before the storm. That was the feeling throughout most of the state this past weekend. With Liberty Bell on tap, most squads didn't run full-strength. Like the boys, we did see quite a bit of movement on the back side of the rankings, however.

5A

Despite Mountain Vista sitting out most of their varsity squad this past weekend, they remained on top of the rankings. In fact, there was no movement within the top-five rankings, though Cherokee Trail did made a few minor gains on Vista Nation. On the back side of the rankings there was quite a big of movement, however, Grandview and Fairview jumped up several spots each, and Broomfield made an appearance at No. 8 with their third place finish at Centaurus.

4A

Battle Mountain opened their season at home and proved why they're No. 1 in the rankings. They put their entire top five into the top-10. Behind them Niwot made huge gains, moving into the No. 2 spot, despite not running a full squad at Centaurus. The return of Taylor James may have had something to do with that. Speaking of Centaurus... They made a massive, massive leap from unranked to the No. 5 spot this week after winning their invitational.

3A

Peak to Peak sat out Centaurus, though that didn't hurt their ranking much. They remain on top of 3A, but not by much. The Classical Academy's runner-up finish at Widefield moved them into the No. 2 spot, and hot on Peak to Peak's heels. Per the theme of the week, we saw major movement outside the top five. Holy Family jumped three spots into the No. 6 position, while previously unranked Faith Christian and Berthoud leapt into the rankings this week.

2A

Lyons remained the lions of 2A, as they were a clear favorite this week after going stride for stride with bigger schools at Battle Mountain. Nederland continued to move upwards, however, creeping their way to the No. 2 spot. If there was one squad that made some big noise this week, it was Soroco. Their fifth place finish at the Lake County Invite showed that they deserved to be ranked. Previously unranked, they found themselves in the No. 3 spot this week. Another newby to the rankings this week was Rye, who snuck on it at No. 10.
