It was yet another insanely big week for big leaps. Enough so, that yet again, we'll have a handful of Honorable Mentions.
Taking the cake this week required a staggering 1:28 improvement.
Battle Mountain's Elliot Pribramsky went from 19:51 at Dave Sanders to 18:23 at the Pantherfest this past weekend.
98 seconds...
That's practically 400 meters at these speeds.
And what put Pribramsky over the top this week was the consistent improvements from week to week, and from year to year. In order to understand her massive run even more, I hopped in the MileSplit DeLorean and went back in time...
The Battle Mountain sophomore opened her high school MileSplit account with a 26:32 5k. She ran two more 5ks in the 23-minute range, and eventually clawed her way down to 21:59 by the end of the 2017 season.
She opened her 2018 season with a four-second PR, running 21:55. And then she got to work.
Pribramsky dropped that to 20:01 St. Vrain a week later, then 19:51 at Dave Sanders before popping that 18:23 this past weekend. Of additional note, that's the same course she ran 23:01 last year.
In summary.... Pribramsky just ran eight minutes faster than her first high school 5k. That's more than deserving of a Leap Of The Week.
And she wasn't the only one with a big jump this weekend... On the next page we'll highlight a few other notable leaps...
