A Real Elite Performance At Mines No.2

Zion Gordon was fractions of a second ahead of Elijah Williams and Cameron Harris in the 60.

The boy's 60 saw an intense three-way battle between Zion GordonElijah Williams, and Cameron Harris. It was a race that into the line with Gordon duplicating last week's win, and his personal best, running 6.87 for a US No. 1 mark. Williams dipped under 7 as well, running 6.99, while Harris was just over at 7.01.

Gordon and Harris battled to the line once again in the 60 hurdles less than an hour later. Gordon maintained his perfect sheet on the night, winning the event in in 8.01 Harris's 8.03.

Williams didn't end his night without getting a W, however. The Gateway senior took the 300 an hour later, winning the event in 37.10 to Walley Clay's 37.23.

Walley Clay took second in. the 300 by just over a tenth of a second.

The 800 saw two very competitive heats compile the top three runners. Leading the way was Josh Dean, who claimed the win with a 2:07.83. Hot on heels - in the second heat - was Lakewood's Clifton Thompson, who ran 2:08.85. Rounding out the top three, and tallying the third sub 2:10 performance of then night was Andre Stablein, who finished second in his heat, and third overall in 2:09.76.

Colin Szuch was a beast in the 3,000. Despite enduring the tight turns and countless laps, the Evergreen sophomore cruised away with a dominating 9:38 victory for a US No. 1 mark.

The long jump saw two performances go beyond 20 feet. Leading the way was Teagan Mayes, who won the event in 20-11.5, just ahead of Mikey Sanchez, who went 20-6.75 to finish second.

Nico Capolungo was one of two competitors in the triple jump, and he won the event by nearly two feet, jumping 41-0.75. Hunter Potrykus proved to be quickly rounding into shape. The Silver Creek junior won the pole vault in 13-9 - nine inches higher than last week. Meanwhile Easton Summers was the lone competitor in the shot, winning the event in 42-8.
