Top Stories Of 2018, #4: Arria Minor Sprint Queen

There weren't many weeks between January and July that we didn't talk about Denver East's Arria Minor, and that's because she gave everyone something to talk about nearly every week.

Whether it was some big win, or another record, Minor put together one of the most impressive 2018 track campaigns in the state.

Minor's dominance over the sprints since her freshmen year has been insane. And in 2018 her name became synonymous not just with winning, but with record-breaking.

She won a staggering 11-of-11 100-meter races last spring, including the 2018 state championship. She won nine-of-nine 200-meter races, including the 2018 state championship. And she won four-of-seven 400 meter races, which included her one hiccup at the Colorado State Championships - a rare runner-up finish (to Grandview's Lily Williams).

Her runner-up finish in the 400 finals can be forgiven, however, because two days earlier she did something no other Colorado girl has done: Break 52 seconds. And she did it in the preliminary heats.

If anything, it only proved that she is indeed human, even if her records seem otherwise.

Minor has transcended into the realm where winning is nearly marginal, and records are the true statement of how great one is.
