Vaille Claims U19 Snowshoeing World Championship

Forget running on dirt paths, up hills, or on an open track. That all sounds a little too easy for Jeremiah Vaille, who clearly prefers a bit more of an obstacle when he's striding out.

Add a few inches snow on the ground, a pair of wide snowshoes, and maybe even a flurry of white flakes from the sky, and you'll see the truth strength of Vaille.

The Summit High junior traveled to Val di Non, Italy to compete in the World Snowshoe Federation World Championships this past weekend, and made sure to bring back gold.

Vaille ran away with the U19 division, claiming the event in 19:32 - an 11 second victory. He was one of three to break 20 minutes over the grueling course. The title of "World Champion" adds to his Colorado High School Snowshoe State Championship, which he claimed last February.
