Five Bold Predictions For The Season Ahead

Medrano Goes Beyond 200 Feet

Kain Medrano capped his 2018 season in the ring with a staggering toss of 190-3 in the discus. Not only was that the best of the best for Colorado last year by far, but that was the second best mark over the past decade.

What's more revealing, however, is Medrano's rate of improvement...

Freshmen Year: 140-5

Sophomore Year: 167-3

Junior Year: 190-3

What does that leave for his senior year? His average jump has been 25 feet (27 from freshman year to sophomore, and 23 from sophomore to junior).

25 feet added on to 190 puts him well over 200 feet. But let's not be too bold, yet

Even looking at his rate of improvement during the indoor season spells the same outlook: a big spring coming.

Sure, the shot and discus are two entirely different events, but Medrano is six feet beyond his 2018 best in the shot during the 2019 season. That only means one thing: he's much stronger than last year. And last year he went on to toss 190-3 feet in the discus.

So what can we expect to see this spring? I predict Medrano hits 207 feet.
