Rocking It At The Rocky Mountain Lobo Invitational

From the opening mile, it was all Rocky Mountain High.

Dalton Kaines and Luke Lowndes led the opening mile, while Tanner Halopoff and Quinn Baugh hovered behind the chase pack.

Kaines used the second mile to create some space between him and his chasers before running off to victory with a slight smile on his face.

The sophomore ran 17:36 over the challenging course.

Behind him Halopoff and Baugh were making the most of the second half of the course. Over the final mile the two Lobos surged into the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, overtaking Fossil Ridge's Cy Teruel and Fort Collins' Christian Groendyk in the process.

Halopoff and Baugh gave Rocky Mountain a 1-2-3 punch, finishing second and third, running 17:42, and 17:46. Teruel finished fourth in 17:48, while Groendyk was a few seconds back in 17:51.

The team race was decided before anyone really needed to start tallying it up - is was clear that Rocky Mountain ran away with it.

The Lobos put four into the top 10, and all five into the top-11, tallying a stellar 26 points. Fossil Ridge took second with 57 points, while Poudre was third with 79.
