A shift in the tide...
It looks like we may have a new titan in 4A next year - Cheyenne Mountain returns a loaded squad in 2021.
Their entire top-five from this year's state meet return - and they all finished in the top 23 overall. Erik Le Roux has been leading this squad for years, and next year he'll lead a squad with three returners who have broken 15:40 (almost four), and five who have cracked 16:30. Le Roux's 14:44 is the lone sub-15 clocking on the squad. Sophomore Kaden Levings returns with the second-fastest time - a 15:31 clocking. Enzo Knapp is their No. 2 returner from the state meet where he finished 12th, and Knox Exton is their No. 3 in terms of time - he's run 15:36. Cedar Collins caps off their top-five in terms of time, and he's run 16:28. Based on returners for the State meet, they could pump all five scoring runners into the top-13 next year. Cheyenne Mountain owns a 15:41 1-5 average, and split of 1:43.
On paper, Cheyenne Mountain looks like the team to beat.
