Weathering The Wind At The Warren Mitchell Invitational

The boy's 100 was an insanely close race - add that they raced into an incredible head-wind. 

Like Weathers, Owen Barton used the final third of the 100 to storm back into the race. The St. Mary's junior and Jake Romero were clocked at 12.01, while Koy Bauer was third in 12.03.

Bauer went on to win the 200 in 24.39, after clocking 23.63 in the prelims. Edgar Garcia gave Byers the 200-400 sweep, as the senior took the 400 in 53.86 - a 2A No. 10 mark.


Meanwhile, Jodzuel Juarez battled the wind around the track in the 1,600.

The Ellicot junior won the event in 4:46 - a 2A No. 3 timeBranden Davis took second four seconds backn in 4:50. 


In the 110H Rashaun McNeil was in a league of his own. The Crowley County junior dropped the No. 4 time in 2A into that raging head-wind, running 16.88 in the prelims. He came back to win the finals in 17.15.

McNeil battled Treece Hines in the 300H, with both running Top-10 2A marks. Hines won the event in 44.44, just ahead of McNeil's 44.52. 

In the high jump no one could match Nick Dahm's air. The Elbert senior won the event with a clearance of 5-10, which was just off his personal best of 5-11.

Damian Ramos leapt beyond 40-feet to claim the triple jump in 40-9 - a 3A No. 7Jeremiah Leeper took second in 40-4 for a 2A No. 3

In the pole vault Kailer Schmidt and Johnathan Mikita both cleared 12.1

Terrance McNeil claimed the discus with a toss of 129-5 for a 2A No. 9 mark, while Titus Glanz finished second in 127-7.

The host school of Limon took the team title, tallying 139.50 points, while Burlington took second with 74, and St. Mary's was third with 62.
