Battle Mountain's Sullivan Middaugh went from 17:48 as a freshman to 16:05 as a senior.

4A state champ Zane Bergen was the fastest senior at the 2021 Colorado State Cross Country Championships with his 15:17 clocking, but let's take a look at his progression...

Bergen ran 17:26 as a freshman, 16:30 as a sophomore, and 15:29 as a junior, and 15:17 as a senior - that's clockwork progression.

The only runner with a nearly similar progression is Jackson Shorten, who went 17:34-16:37-15:37-15:44.

Erik Le Roux is also among the few who compete at state all four years of high school. Le Roux went from 16:43 as a freshman, to 15:50 as a sophomore, to 15:46 as a junior, to 15:31 as a senior.
