What was at stake in the boys 3A team race going into the final event of the 2021 Colorado State Championships?
Oh, just an overall state title.
No biggie.
Heading into the 4x400 Resurrection Christian needed to score four-or-more-points more than The Classical Academy to claim the overall team title. Meaning, if they won the event, they'd need TCA to finish no-better than third.
While they couldn't control how TCA fared, the quartet of Jack VanDeList, Caleb Sutter, Preston Fagerlin, and Braycen Buxman did everything in their power to take care of business.
Buxman torched the final 200 of the of 4x4 with a fiery kick to give Resurrection Christian 10 precious points.
4x400 state title: Check.
By winning the event, and TCA finishing sixth, Resurrection Christian claimed the title with 73 points - two ahead of TCA's 71. Frontier Academy finished third with 53 points.
Overall team title: Check.
