Colorado Future Stars: Meet Jonas Scudamore

In this week's edition of Future Stars, we'll take a look at the latest Sophomore performances...

On that note: Colorado Meet Jonas Scudamore

The Denver East sophomore recently finished third at the Washington Park Invitational in a massive personal best of 16:06. The time is currently the sixth-fastest time in 5A, and second-fastest in the sophomore class.

To give this performance a bit more context...

As a freshman Scudamore's 5k PR was 17:22, and he finished 110th at the 5A Colorado State Cross Country Championships. On the track he ran PRs of 4:51 in the 1,600, and 10:17 in the 3,200.

Basically, Scudamore nearly PRd in the 3,200 en route to his 5k PR - that shows that the Denver East sophomore did some serious work over the summer.

If you recognize the name a bit, it's because Jonas is the younger brother of Harrison Scudamore.

Quick Takes

Parker Graham - The Castle View sophomore finished eighth at the Washington Park Invitational in a PR of 16:33 - that's a 48-second improvement over his freshman PR.

Tessa Walter - The Air Academy sophomore hasn't exactly been flying under the radar entirely, but her 17:31 victory at the Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invitational was a breakthrough performance. That's also a Colorado PR by 40-seconds.

Nadhia Campos - The Vanguard sophomore was featured in this series last spring multiple times, and she's the defending 2A state champ, so she's not exactly a "future star" - she's already there. But, like Walter - her 17:35 runner-up finish at Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invitational was a breakthrough - that's a 38-second Colorado PR.

Ella Hagen - The Summit sophomore has been featured in this series last spring as well, but like Walter, and Campos, say it with me here: breakthrough. Her 18:56 victory at the Battle Mountain Husky Invitational was a meet record, and the first Sub-19 clocking ever on the course.

Kinley Wolfe - The Cherry Creek sophomore is a new name, sort of. If you recognize the last name, you should. But Kinley is making a name for herself now - she finished sixth at the Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invitational in a Colorado PR of 18:51. To add a little more significance to the performance - she ran 19:51 at the meet a year ago.

Molly Zann - The Kent Denver sophomore is definitely a new name, and someone you'll want to keep an eye on this fall. She won the Washington Park Invitational in a 38-second Colorado PR of 18:40. That's currently the third-fastest time in 3A. A year ago she finished 25th at the 3A Colorado State Cross Country Championships
