The 2A Colorado State Preview: Champions Set To Be Crowned

Individual

The girl's 2A individual race is perhaps the only one with a clear-cut favorite.

Defending state champion Nadhia Campos went from good last year, to great this year. She's run herself up from being the best in 2A, to one of the best in the state of Colorado.

She's raced seven times this season, and her only losses - just two - came to runners in larger classifications.

She's been riding a hot streak of five-consecutive victories, and owns a PR of 17:35 from the Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invitational

What's additionally impressive is that she's broken 18-minutes three times this season, with two being entirely solo.

With Campos the clear favorite, the race here is really for second.

Jessica Black looks to be a favorite to claim that runner-up spot. The North Fork sophomore - who didn't run cross country last fall - has consistently put up great performances this season.

She ran a PR of 18:42 at the Warrior Lincoln Park Classic (SWL Championships), and she tied that at the Colorado 2A Region 4 Cross Country, which she won.

Ruby Pendy has raced Black twice, and both times finished behind her. The Crested Butte senior is the third-fastest in 2A this year with her 19:01 from the Colorado 2A Region 4 Cross Country Championships, where she finished second to Black.
