Tasty Race Tuesday: Boys 800 At Air Force HS Open

State-leading time. A three-second victory. And just off the meet record.

Add that this race had the four-fastest times run in the state this season.

Yeah.

That's a pretty tasty race

Drew Costelow came out of the gates swinging.

The Valor Christian senior hadn't raced in well over two months, but it didn't look like it at the Air Force High School Indoor Open Saturday.

Jackson Neppl set a hot early pace to keep this race honest, though Costelow was patiently bidding his time in the pack, waiting to strike.

The defending 5A state champ in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 attacked with the bell. Costelow raced on without a competitive shadow, running a state-leading 1:55.51.

Peter Neid finished second in 1:58.48, which was just ahead of Shalom Trowbridge's 1:59.05.

Watch the race above!
