In recognition of a season brimming over with triumphs, Boulder's Kelsey Lakowske was named Colorado's Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year for 2009.
In addition to finishing her season undefeated within Colorado, Lakowske also grabbed a fifth-place finish at Foot Locker Midwest and a sixth-place finish at Foot Locker Nationals. Her state title was mostly a solo effort as she finished 50 seconds ahead of Eleanor Fulton in second.
Lakowske led a Boulder team that was nationally ranked throughout the season and finished second only to Fort Collins at the 5A state meet.
The boys Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year will be announced shortly.
