But it wasn't just the field event participants who shone.
Colorado had several events winners at Saturday's Great Southwest Indoor Classic. Kobi Rex (Speed T & F) went 6-4.75 to win the high jump. Stephon Roddy (Rebel Track) got some midseason kind of air to go 20-10.75 to win the long jump. Caitlyn Reichlin (also Rebel Track) won the triple jump with a mark of 33-9.25.
On the track, William Kincaid (Rebel Track) won the 3200 in 10:17.31. Heather Bates (Pine Creek) doubled to win the 800 in 2:24.75 and the 1600 in 5:20.62. The Colorado Journey contingent from Silver Creek HS had a strong showing with Breanna Gunnarson taking the 60 in 8.11, Kenny Warner taking the boys 60 in 7.17, plus a win in the boys 4 X 400 with a 3:34.40 time.
Other Colorado winners included, among the girls, Channah Gallagher in the 60 hurdles (10.22) and the Grizzly Track Club in the 4 X 400 (4:13.78). Among the boys, the only other Colorado titleist was Nolan George in the shot put with a toss of 40-8.25.
Most of the meets contestants were drawn from Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico.
