If the State Meet Were Held Today... 2A Boys

Adrian Penny leads a strong Paonia team in their bid for a state track and field title. Colorado Track XC file photo.

Academy School District 20 declared a snow day today. Sigh.

So, making the best (maybe) of my suddenly abundant discretionary time, I decided to take the results that are in the system as of this morning and run a series of virtual state meets.

2A boys takes a bit of a surprise turn in these results. There's a lot that can happen in six or seven weeks, but I don't think many people were picking Burlington to be a serious contender in 2010. Never count out a school with a deep track tradition, however. Wray and Paonia we were figuring on at the beginning of the season, and it comes as no surprise that they're clearly among the contenders.

Although this is what things look like now, a caution must be added that many meets have struggled to happen and just as many have struggled to record wind legal performances. No doubt, there are some serious omissions in this early virtual meet. Note also that the virtual meet is scored to eight places and not nine.

All that said, it's still fun to see who is sitting where.

Error Notice: Ty Williams is currently showing under both Telluride and Norwood. He should only appear under Norwood. That's an issue I need to fix. As a result, Telluride is showing a little higher in the rankings than what they should.

Calculated as of April 07, 2010

These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We took the individual rankings and relay rankings and scored them as a normal meet: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
