Colorado's smallest-school classifications delivered plenty of standout moments at the 2026 Colorado (CHSAA) State Track and Field Championships, as athletes across Classes 1A, 2A and 3A turned in personal bests, claimed state titles and capped memorable spring seasons at Jefferson County Stadium. From dominant distance performances to breakthrough sprint and field event marks, the state meet showcased the depth of talent across Colorado's lower classifications.
Here are some of the top performances.
Parker Arbuthnot, Springfield High School: Arbuthnot won the 800m, the 1600m, and the 3200m once again for Class 1A! He now has six individual titles from the past two seasons, making him one of the best distance runners in the smaller classifications! He ran two personal bests, running 1:57 in the 800m and 9:56 in the 3200m, while also running 4:33 in the 1600m, which was a season's best time.
Tuff Kelly, McClave High School: Kelley won both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles for Class 1A, running an impressive time of 15.06 in the 110m hurdles and 41.01 in the 300m hurdles! Both marks were personal bests for the season, and he is only a junior, showing a lot of potential in the event!

Max Miller, The Vanguard School: Miller broke an impressive Class 2A state meet record in the 3200m with a time of 9:17! He won the title by just one second over Cooper Osmus. In the 1600m, it was just as close of a race between Miller and Osmus, where Miller ended up 2nd overall, but ran a season-best time of 4:23 in the process.
Cooper Osmus, Dayspring Christian Academy: Osmus did battle it out with Miller, finishing just behind him in the 3200m with a huge personal best time of 9:18, also dipping under the state meet record! He did come out victorious in the 1600m, just edging Miller running 4:22.99.
Brady Mollendor, Sedgwick County: Mollender scored some big points for his team, winning multiple individual titles in the jumping events. He jumped a new personal best in high jump of 6-4 to finish 1st overall! He then went on to place 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 21-5.75.
