Rocco Culpepper, Niwot High School: Though Culpepper was unable to defend his back-to-back state titles in the 800m and the 1600m, he did defend his 1600m title with a huge last lap, out-kicking everyone in the field, crossing the line at 4:08.13! He also dipped under the Class 4A state meet record in the 800m, running 1:50 for 3rd place overall.
Jaidden Gibbs, Central Grand Junction High School: Though he is only a sophomore, Gibbs won the Class 4A individual title in the 400m, running an impressive time of 47.89! His time was also good enough for #5 in all of Colorado this season and a big improvement from his personal best time of 48.22.
Gavin Reddick, Canon City High School: Reddick defended his title in the 100m, running a time of 10.61 to take that victory! Adding to his resume, Reddick also won the 200m in an almost more impressive time of 21.55, running a new personal best mark in the process. He also helped his 4x200m relay team to a 6th place finish as well.
Owen Hays, Roosevelt High School: Hays had a very busy weekend, qualifying in four events and making it to finals in three of the four events. He started the final day with a win in the 110m hurdles, running a personal best time of 13.64 to take that title. Then he went on to win the 300m hurdles in a state meet record time of 36.54, running very close to his record time he set earlier in the season! Finally, he placed 3rd overall in the 200m with a time of 21.75.
Oliver Horton, Coronado High School: The 3200m was extremely stack this season in Class 4A and Horton was able to pull off the victory, running a time of 9:10! He proved that he had the fastest kick out of the field as the majority of the field was bunched up until the end of the race. Horton also placed 3rd overall in the 1600m in another stacked field, running 4:10.
Nathan Moller, Palmer Ridge High School: Moller hit the best mark in high jump for all of Colorado this season, achieving a big personal best of 6-10 and winning the Class 4A title! Moller continued his weekend with a 8th place finish in the long jump hitting a mark of 21-3 and making it to the finals of both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. He ended up 3rd overall in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.45 and 6th in the 300m hurdles running 39.01.
Owen Twesme, Palmer Ridge High School: Twesme has been consistent all season in the shot put, throwing over 60 feet multiple times this season. He won the 4A title with a heave of 60-11, achieving a new state meet record in the process! He also placed 4th overall in the discus throwing 162-5.
Cadel Ruthven, Fort Collins High School: Ruthven had a lot of close finishes in many of his events, but in his last race of his high school career, Ruthven won the 1600m in a time of 4:09, out kicking all of his competition! Earlier in the meet, Ruthven helped his team to a 3rd place finish in the 4x800m relay and also placed 4th overall in the 3200m in a time of 9:16. Finally, he just barely missed winning the 800m title, finishing 2nd in a time of 1:52.60.
Benjamin Adams, Mountain Vista High School: Adams had a strong end to his junior season, winning two titles at the line. First, Adams helped his team win the 4x800m relay title, coming from behind to win it at the line. Then he repeat himself once again with the 3200m title, just out-kicking the competition to take the victory in a time of 9:10! Finally, he finished 2nd overall in the 1600m, running 4:10.
Joshua Gallien, Vista Peak High School: Gallien was ever so close to breaking 47 seconds in the 400m, running 47.03 to win the Class 5A title in the event! He ran a fairly substantial PR to take that victory. He also placed 7th overall in the 100m in a time of 10.72 and 5th overall in the 200m, running 21.54.
Fort Collins High School's 4x200m Relay: Fort Collins High School put together a show with their 4x200m relay with flawless handoffs and strong legs from Andre Rose, Jackson Ruff, Preston Mozer, and DJ Ruff! They ran a new Class 5A state meet record and Colorado Prep record of 1:24.57 to win the individual title.
Cameron Bell, Eaglecrest High School: Bell won the long jump for Class 5A hitting 24-0 and beating the rest of the competition by almost a foot! Bell then went on to win the 300m hurdles in a brand new personal best time of 36.56, just out-leaning the competition! He also helped his team out to a 5th place finish in the 4x200m relay.
Zazi Wolfrum, Bear Creek High School: Wolfrum was the first athlete from Colorado this season to jump over 48 feet in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 48-3.75 to win the Class 5A title! His jump was over a two foot PR, and he is only a sophomore, showing a lot more potential for him. He also placed 6th overall in the long jump, jumping 22-.75.
