This Week's Nominees:
Sarah Holmstrom, Fairview High School (Colorado): A freshman broke away from a 203-runner field at the Pat Patten Invitational, crossing the 5K line in 19:26.70 and winning by 103.2 seconds. The time slots in at No. 114 of 3,368 athletes in MileSplit's database at Viele Lake XC Course since 2008, and No. 23 among freshmen at that course.
Kayla Broecker, Summit High School (Colorado): A time of 20:43.91 over the 5K distance paced a 180-runner field at the Summit Stinger at Copper - The World's Toughest, with the win secured by 12.7 seconds. That clocking checks in at No. 3 of 533 athletes in MileSplit's database at Copper Mountain Resort since 2021 and stands as the fastest sophomore time recorded there, while also marking a 36.9-second improvement over a previous mark on this course.
Taya Wren, Rangely High School (Colorado): First place out of 58 finishers at the Chris Severy Invitational came via a 21:08.60 5K, with 25.8 seconds separating the winner from the rest of the field. The time ranks No. 2 of 844 athletes in MileSplit's database at Aspen HS XC Course since 2009, the quickest senior showing recorded there, and reflects a 40.0-second gain over a prior mark on this course.
Calia Vaughn, Boulder High School (Colorado): Covering the 5K in 17:48.90 at the Pat Patten Invitational secured the win over 106 finishers by 8.6 seconds. The time ranks No. 2 of 3,368 athletes in MileSplit's database at Viele Lake XC Course since 2008, the fastest junior mark there, and improved by 30.5 seconds faster than the prior mark on this course.
Chelsey Shillingford, Legacy High School (Colorado): Winning by 40.4 seconds among 112 finishers at the Mead Stampede, a 21:05.40 clocking over 5K claimed first place outright. That performance lands at No. 195 of 1,980 athletes in MileSplit's database at Mead High School XC Course since 2010, placing No. 73 among seniors at this course over that same span.
