Taya Wren knows what it takes to win a state championship.
The Rangely senior secured the Colorado 2A Cross Country State title in 2024 as a sophomore. Now, two years later, Wren is putting together another strong fall as she seeks to close out her high school cross country career on a high note.

A Strong Senior Campaign
Wren currently holds the fastest girls 5K cross country mark in Class 2A this season, running 17:59.15 at the Warrior XC Invitational, where she claimed fourth overall. Through her six races this fall, Wren has finished inside the top four every time, collecting one individual victory and two runner-up finishes along the way. That consistency has helped establish her as one of the top contenders in 2A.
A Familiar Place Near The Front
Last fall, Wren finished sixth at the Colorado 2A Cross Country State Championships, following her individual state title in 2024. She carried that competitive form into this past spring track season, where she finished runner-up in the 2A 3200 meters and third in the 1600 meters at the state championships.
Now, with the 2026 cross country postseason ahead, Wren has another opportunity to compete for the top spot. And this time, she is looking to reclaim a title she has already held.

One Final Championship Run
With Colorado's regional championships approaching, the biggest races of the fall are just about to kick off. For Wren, the experience is already there. Few runners in the classification bring the same combination of championship experience and the current momentum Wren has. The top of the 2A podium is calling.
