The Horizon Runner’s Roost Invitational was as usual--wet, wild, and wacky. At Addenbrooke Park in Lakewood, a gorgeous, warm and sunny day greeted runners, in addition to numerous inflatable sharks, crocs, orcas, and lobsters that inhabit the five water crossings in this fun-filled meet.  

While the competition is reliably stout, many of the participants assume a more festive demeanor. Many sport snorkels and goggles, water wings, or brightly colored hair or face paint. Others are determined to cannonball or belly-flop into the creek, including spectacular splats by the Prairie View coaches in the citizen’s race afterward.
