In Bob Dylan's song from 50 years ago, the questions were different, but the refrain was the same. To every question, the answer was, "blowin' in the wind."
And that pretty well summarizes Friday's Sand Creek Scorpion Invitational. There was a lot of blowing sand and grit around Sand Creek High School on Friday evening.
While it's a given that there will be a few meets each spring where wind pretty much makes a mess of things, we'd come to hope for better than that based on the experience of the last few weekends. But this meet was a reminder that, ultimately, track and field is at the mercy of the meteorological conditions.
And a failed timing sensor added to the misery.
