Weather, more specifically, wind becomes the bane of every track and field athlete as they enter the final days of state qualifying.  The 4A and 5A members of the Southwest League converged in the Four Corners area in hopes of either solidifying or establishing a top 18 performance.

The temperature, although possibly a bit warm for the distance events, was not bad, nearing the 80 degree mark.  The winds, unfortunately, were not as favorable.  Gusting and swirling, the winds caused difficulties for the athletes on the track and in the field alike.

Most of the events Friday afternoon were preliminary rounds, but there were a handful of finals to report on.
