The tour of cross country results for the weekend past is nearly complete. I've seen preliminary results from Lake County and have nothing yet from St. Mary's Academy. Other than that, the results are all in and begging for discussion.
One thing we're seeing all over the state is DUST, and lots of it. An inch of rain all across the state in the coming week would be a blessing beyond measure at this point. There are scarcely any cross country courses left that aren't dusty.
Another general comment that applies to all of Saturday's meets is to take the results with a slight grain of salt. A number of the state's better distance runners were cloistered in classrooms Saturday morning taking the ACT test. If you needed a fall score on that exam, your choices were September 8 and October 27. As bad as September 8 might have been,...
