For the last three years, Monarch and Fort Collins have finished 1-2 at the state meet. What are the prospects of that changing next year?
To answer that question--or at least to begin answering it--let's take a look at the teams, starting with the top finishers at this year's state meet.
1. Monarch - The Coyotes lose only their #7 off of this year's state team. Some of the others were a little beaten up by the time state rolled around, meaning Monarch probably didn't run as strong as they might have at state. There's no imaginable way Monarch is not back among the contenders next year. The ordering of finishers among Claire Green, Kaitlyn Benner, Ashley Litoff, the Mann sisters, Anna Hogan, Alyssa Reese, and so on, may not stay the same as this year (not that this was especially static this year), but it's hard to imagine this...
