Sydney Scott is not an unfamiliar name among Colorado cross country circles. Although she enrolled at West Virginia University this fall, she was a fixture in the top places in 4A track and cross country meets for several years running here in Colorado.
The former Denver South runner extended her resume a little bit on Saturday morning by running 21:11.3 and qualifying for the junior womens national team by placing sixth.
She was not, however, the only Colorado-connected entry in the race.
University of Colorado freshman Carrie Verdon finished third overall in 21:08.8 to lay claim to another of the berths. Next up on the list, but well out of the team berths, was Regan Mullen (TCA/Colorado Christian University), who finished 16th in 22:06.1
