2017 Anna Banana Memorial: A Race Comes Home

Palisade's Hedrick and Fruita's Winn Secure JV Titles

Despite an aggressive start by Fruita's Uriah Pfeffer, cooler heads prevailed as Travis Hedrick more moderately paced himself through the first mile and prevailed as the JV boys champion.  Central's Nicholas Hamacher secured the runner-up position, with Glenwood's William Kaufman in third.  Despite falling behind a fair amount during the race, Pfeffer would recover to for fourth.  Hedrick's win led Palisade to the JV Boys Team Championship.

The home team made sure it didn't go home empty handed and finished with meet with a flourish.  Wildcat Ashlyn Winn lived up to the promise of her name and ran a strong race for the JV individual title.  She was followed by freshman teammates Bethany Atencio and Rebecka Plank.  Eleanor Kaufman would lead an onslaught of Glenwood finishers.  In fact, Fruita-Monument and Glenwood would claim the top 9 positions.  The top three finish by the Wildcats was enough, however, for them to earn the JV title.
