David Cardenas ran a state-leading 15:53 this past weekend.
The shaking begins!
With another week of races behind us, we're starting to see movement within the individual rankings. And perhaps the most frightening thing is that one of the most competitive meets this past weekend was a 2-mile, so we have yet to see where some of Colorado's titans work into the equation of 5k times.
Regardless, we've got another week to look at, and new leaders on the board.
For the boys, the three big 5ks this weekend all had winning times under 16 minutes - and it's only August.
Central's David Cardenas was the first Sub 16 of the season. Cardenas won the Central Warrior Invitational over teammate Tyman Smart. Both boys went under 16, with Cardenas leading the way with a new Colorado No. 1 of 15:53, while Smart finished in 15:57.
Cherry Creek's Parker Wolfe came out of the gates sprinting. And his efforts earned him a new shiny personal best of 15:54, a win at the Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invite, and the No. 2 time in Colorado so far. Of additional note, Wolfe ran 18:07 at this meet last year - that's quite a leap...
Dylan Schubert won the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede in 15:55 for a Colorado No. 3.
