The Great Southwest Classic is the biggest post-season meet in the Rocky Mountain region. Meet management is actively looking for Colorado participants.
Any Colorado athlete ranked in the top ten in the state in any event is considered an invited athlete for the Great Southwest. In some cases, athletes outside of this criterion may be eligible for participation as well.
Athletes, coaches, or parents who would like to make an inquiry about participation are invited to contact Jeff Bliven at jbliven2@cherrycreekschools.org. Jeff is the girls selection chair for Colorado and can help with questions pertaining to either male or female athletes.
The Great Southwest Classic is a three-day meet, featuring multis on Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7, 2000 meter steeplechase on Friday evening, and a full slate of the usual track and field events (to include javelin) on Saturday, June 8.
The meet is held at the University of New Mexico track and field stadium in the heart of Albuquerque.
The deadline to confirm entry is June 2, so any interested athletes must be registered prior to that time.
