Once again, the Colorado high school track and field set lit things up for the weekend. If you're hoping last year's cut-offs for making the state meet are going to suffice for this year, hope again. The stakes are higher--almost straight across the board. Here's a quick once-over on what we were treated to this weekend:

Abel Velasquez Invitational

Ignacio hosts this meet, but it's at Bayfield's track. But, it's no problem. You could say there are close relations between the coaching staffs--not to mention the geographic proximity. 

For the boys, highlights included Bayfield dropping their 4x100 time into the 44s, John Arnold getting a 14-0 clearance in the pole vault, and Ignacio's Wyatt Hayes winning the long jump at a dead wind 20-0.75. For good measure, John Ar...
