With the departure of Vanguard and SkyView Academy to the ranks of 3A and Heritage Christian Academy's migration to 2A Region 1, this region suddenly became a little thin in the ranks of leadership kind of teams. The door to opportunity, however, has a way of closing on people who hesitate to seize opportunity the instant the door swings open.
For the moment, Denver Christian, last year's 12th-place team at state, seems to enjoy undisputed control of the driver's seat in the region. The Crusaders return most of last year's state roster and have a reasonably balanced front four in Phoebe Foster, Abigail Miller, Mia Twinam and Caroline Komodore. Foster's season ended early last fall after showing much promise, so DC will be hoping she can pick up where she left off.
