Ladies and gentlemen, we're gazing on a pretty tough region here. Battle Mountain and Durango have gone to great lengths to restore some of the glory of former years, and much of the rest of the region lingers not far behind.
Battle Mountain's team is deep and hard-bitten, exactly what you'd expect a Rob Parrish-coached team to be. Sophomore Alexis Aguirre and junior Ethan Pence (courtesy of Vail Christian) join seniors Cameron Moore, Joshua Braun, and Ricardo Arreola to give the Huskies three guys who ran 17:20 or better at some point last season. While it's true they didn't run 17:20 or better every time out--and especially not on their home course or the state course--that's still a nice marker for any team at any level in the state. You can reasonably expect, however, that they'll be leaving that marker...
