Large Southern Colorado Contingent Headed to Duke City All-Comers

If you want to know all there is about Colorado high school track and field, sometimes you have to look beyond the borders of the state. This would be one of those times.

It's a fairly sizable group of Colorado competitors making a run for the border.

Representatives come chiefly from Durango and Alamosa High Schools, but also represented are Bayfield, Sangre de Cristo, and maybe one or two more schools I might have missed in a quick scan of the entries.

They'll be taking on some of the best of New Mexico, plus an impressive contingent out of Texas--registration for this meet appears to be sharply up this year. But that's okay, because we're sending some of the best of Colorado to meet them.

As an example or two, Sarah Storey will be competing in the 60 and the horizontal jumps. Alli Davis will be shaking off some rust in the 200, long jump, and high jump. Shannon Maloney and Jessica Cusick stare down the mile. Jericho Ulibarri and Caleb Palmer open big with the two mile.

And there will be many more in action on Saturday night, including one or two looking for their first-ever high school track and field competition.

Results from this meet are typically delayed a day or two, but we'll get them posted as quickly as they become available.
