Once again, Durango enters the outdoor track and field season with a high set of hopes. This is a team that could be very competitive come May. Numbers are perhaps not quite what they are at some 4A Front Range powerhouse programs like Mountain View and Niwot, but this is a team that--if things go well--could be a big player at Jeffco Stadium on the third weekend of May.

There are two girls in the Durango program who do a whole host of things well. Those two would be Miranda Gallegos and Alli Davis. Both sprint, and both jump. And both are capable of making it to state, and very possibly scoring, in both disciplines.

Gallegos has a strongest event in the long jump, with a returning mark from last year of 16-7. She also figures for heavy duty on relays. Davis has a long list of "strongest" marks from last year, to include a...
