The blanket of snow that presently lies draped over the Rampart High School throwing sectors belies the enormous potential there.
Quietly, almost imperceptibly, Rampart has emerged as one of the strongest throwing programs in 5A. And, it's largely that throws program that has Rampart looking up toward bigger things than they've seen for some time in track and field.
Adrian Brukner, a senior this year, brings the most familiar resume to the ring. Last spring, Brukner had best marks of 49-8.5 and 161-0 to his credit. At state, he earned a sixth in the discus and a ninth in the shot put. You can bet that, with a lot of graduation taking place in front of him, his sights are set higher for this spring.
