La Junta is typically warmer than most of the rest of the state. But, the weather in La Junta isn't necessarily any better. Yesterday, it was both. To be sure, the weather threatened a time or two, but never stepped up and delivered on those threats.
So, while a number of meets yesterday closed up shop, even in characteristically balmy Grand Junction, the La Junta Tiger Relays enjoyed superb conditions.
We already know about the record-breaking mile at the Tiger Relays, but an entire high school meet wrapped itself around Tabor Stevens' run to a moment of glory.
Aubrey Till got things started by shaving three seconds off her state-qualifying mark with an 11:24 3200. Perhaps more importantly, she helped pull Pueblo West's Ava Barrier to an 11:46--putting her squarely into contention for a state-qualifying berth.
