It's not been too difficult to see over the last few weeks that the 5A Girls contest is coming down between three teams--Fort Collins, Pine Creek, and Cherokee Trail.

Certainly the analysis below affirms that, but it also underscores the fact that Fort Collins and Cherokee Trail have a few more eggs in their basket than Pine Creek. Interesting because eggs are the business of Eagles but not of Cougars or Lambkins. In any case, Pine Creek needs a perfect storm of a state meet.

Kaleigh Kroeker's nice outing at The Pueblo Twilight offers some much-needed hope to the circle around the Pine Creek campfire.

Much does come down here to these teams match strengths in the 100, 200, and long jump, but if any of these three teams is able, using their depth, to nickel and dime a bundle of points, that could quickly become a turning point in the state race.
